(1 x 1-hour)
In this fascinating documentary, we join the teams responsible for recovering and re-assembling the solid rocket boosters (SRBs) that launched the Space Shuttle into orbit.
A huge team of technicians, seamen and scientists are needed to locate, recover, and rebuild these critical booster rockets worth hundreds of millions of dollars to make sure they are ready to be bolted to the side of a new launch vehicle. The consequences of poor maintenance were witnessed first-hand by millions of television viewers on January 25, 1986, when NASA lost seven lives in the Challenger disaster because of a small fault in one of the SRBs.
