This series gives viewers a comprehensive and dramatic appreciation of the rigorous training and dangerous combat missions faced by the men of the very first special forces by the US and Canada during WW II. While they were officially called the First Special Service Force, the Nazis called them the Devil’s Brigade as celebrated in the classic MGM film of the same name starring William Holden. Through the use of the successful “living history” production technique, the series will take a select group of present-day Canadian and American soldiers back in time to the early days of specialized warfare. These men will live, train and fight as that first generation of Special Forces did sixty years ago. If they complete their training, these men will be put to the ultimate test: they will travel to Italy to attempt one of the daring Devil’s Brigade missions that were so crucial in bringing about the end of the Second World War. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these young men to find out if they measure up to those who went before.
