Eight Canadians travel in a York boat from Winnipeg to Hudson Bay as 1840s fur traders equipped only with food, clothing, and supplies of the period. Over the two-month journey, the crew must traverse an inland sea, navigate dangerous rapids and haul 4000 lbs. of cargo through several portages on their arduous journey through the rugged Manitoba wilderness.
